Institutional Investors Shield Bitcoin from Security Breach Fallout
A recent $100 million security breach in individual cold wallets was expected to cause a market crash, but Bitcoin's price remained resilient. According to Bitwise Research Analyst Ryan Rasmussen, this is because the market has matured from individual investors to institutional ones.
Rasmussen pointed out that the vast majority of new investors are entering the market through spot ETFs or licensed and regulated custody services such as Coinbase and Anchorage. This means vulnerabilities focused on individual cold wallets only affect a small fraction of the total market participants, not creating widespread panic.
Bitwise Investment Director Matt Hougan added that the market has become resilient to negative news in this cycle. Sellers have been exhausted, and the remaining investor profile is showing an unwavering stance. The presence of institutional capital is reducing pressure on prices from bad news.
