Institutions Ditch Bitcoin for Ethereum Amid Surging Institutional Inflows
Recent data suggests that institutions may be shifting their capital from Bitcoin (BTC) to Ethereum (ETH). United States spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced $462.7 million in net outflows during the past week, ending a three-week positive streak. In contrast, Ethereum ETFs saw $196.9 million in net inflows, with BlackRock contributing $148.8 million on Friday alone.
The ETH/BTC trading pair has climbed more than 25% in the third quarter, marking its strongest quarterly performance since Q3 2025. Ethereum's third-quarter return on investment nears 60%, approaching its record Q3 performance of over 66%. Both cryptocurrencies face uncertain price trajectories, with critical moving averages serving as pivotal support and resistance barriers.
Market analysts indicate that for Ethereum to demonstrate genuine momentum, it must penetrate and maintain levels above the $2,531 to $2,567 resistance corridor. However, some observers caution that a single week of divergent ETF activity might simply represent portfolio rebalancing or profit-taking strategies rather than a fundamental capital shift.
