Institutions Flock to Solana's Low-Fee Network
Solana's network has expanded beyond its reputation for speed and low fees, attracting institutions such as banks, asset managers, and stablecoin companies. These entities are testing the network for real settlement work, not just speculative trading.
The network processes transactions quickly and charges very little per transaction, with a base fee of 5,000 lamports per signature. A lamport is a tiny fraction of one SOL, small enough that the fee rarely registers as a real cost.
Solana's payment documentation also cites median transaction fees of around $0.001, making smaller, frequent payments far more practical than on costlier blockchain rails.
