Institutions Shifting Away from Bitcoin's Four-Year Cycle

Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan believes that institutional investors are taking longer-term views when it comes to Bitcoin. This shift in perspective makes the traditional four-year market cycle less relevant to their strategies.

Hougan noted that this distinction is particularly relevant as institutional participation in digital assets has expanded. The introduction of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds in the US provides traditional investors with regulated market access and additional channels for Bitcoin exposure.

Retail traders, on the other hand, continue to focus on historical cycle patterns when making investment decisions. This divergence could lead to different trading behaviors between institutional and retail participants.
