Invesco Doubles Down on MSTR with $862 Million Stake
Invesco, one of the world's largest independent asset managers, has significantly boosted its stake in MicroStrategy, formerly known as Strategy Inc. The company now holds a position valued at roughly $862 million, making it one of the most substantial institutional holders of MSTR. Invesco's increased allocation represents a 42% boost, with the firm holding approximately 8.72 million shares of MSTR as of March 31, 2026.
This translates to around 2.39% ownership of the entire company. On paper, Strategy Inc. is a business intelligence software company, but in practice, it's essentially a leveraged Bitcoin ETF with a corporate charter. The firm has reorganized its investment thesis around accumulating BTC on its balance sheet, funded through a mix of equity issuance, convertible debt, and operating cash flow.
The company now holds an impressive 843,775 BTC, making it the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin among publicly traded companies. The development raises questions about how traditional asset managers are thinking about Bitcoin allocation in the current environment. Some institutions have opted for direct spot Bitcoin ETF exposure, while others clearly prefer the equity route through companies like Strategy.
