Ionic Digital's Bitcoin Holdings Soar Amid Shift to AI Infrastructure
Ionic Digital, a digital infrastructure company born from Celsius Mining's bankruptcy in January 2024, has boosted its Bitcoin holdings to 2,882 BTC. This 21 BTC increase might seem modest, but it reflects a shrewd strategy: Ionic doesn't sell any mined Bitcoin.
The value of this stash is approximately $168.7 million as of June 30, 2026. Given that the company's existence began just over two years ago, accumulating nearly 2,900 BTC while building an AI infrastructure business is a remarkable feat.
The real revenue story behind Ionic Digital lies not in its mining operation but in its AI and high-performance computing leasing. In Q2 2026, this segment generated $43.8 million, accounting for 90% of the company's total revenue of $48.6 million. This marks a 31% year-over-year growth.
Ionic Digital mined 24.77 BTC in May 2026, a 21.1% increase month-over-month. The company signed a significant lease agreement with AI cloud provider Nscale for its Texas site, which could generate $2 billion in revenue over its lifetime.
