IonQ Soars on Raised Revenue Outlook and Quantum Security Deal
IonQ, a quantum computing company, reported a string of positive developments on Tuesday. The company raised its full-year revenue outlook to $450-$460 million for 2026 after acquiring SkyWater Technology. This new forecast includes SkyWater's contribution from July 31 through December 31. IonQ expects the combination with SkyWater to accelerate its path toward commercial-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing.
The company also announced an $8.18 million deal with Congruity360 to deploy quantum-safe network technology for enterprise clients. This agreement follows a recent White House executive order moving federal post-quantum security deadlines to 2030 and extending those requirements to contractors. IonQ describes it as one of the largest commercial quantum security agreements in the United States.
In addition, IonQ published research showing that a 20,000-qubit system could theoretically crack Bitcoin's encryption in 26 days. However, this is just an estimate and not a live demonstration. The company emphasized that the required hardware aligns with systems on its roadmap for around 2028.
