Iran Claims F-35 Hits at Jordan Base Spark $1B Crypto Selloff
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran claimed to have launched 12 ballistic missiles at the US-operated al-Azraq air base in Jordan, targeting facilities that housed advanced aircraft including the F-35, F-15, and F-16. The IRGC stated that it destroyed three American F-35 stealth fighters and damaged three others.
However, according to US and Jordanian officials, their air defenses intercepted most of the incoming missiles, with only limited damage reported on the ground. The base was targeted in two separate waves: first on June 10-11, 2026, and again between July 9-14, 2026.
The second wave of strikes resulted in the deaths of two American service members, with one soldier remaining missing. Jordanian air defenses intercepted most of an approximately 10-missile assault during the July attacks.
