Iran-Oman Talks Drive Bitcoin Surge Amid Oil Price Plunge
Iran and Oman have made positive progress in their talks on managing safe shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, according to an Iranian spokesperson. Esmaeil Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, stated that several rounds of negotiations between Iran and Oman were held Friday and Saturday, achieving some progress.
The talks come after a pause in strikes by the US and Iran, which had escalated tensions in the region. The pause led to an 8% drop in oil prices on Monday, causing Bitcoin and US stock futures to surge.
President Donald Trump is reportedly open to renewed peace talks, but Iranian spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei dismissed reports of ceasefire negotiations, stating Iran currently has no talks with the United States. Instead, he emphasized that ongoing talks with Oman are bilateral and unrelated to Trump's interest in peace talks.
