Iran Threatens Retaliation as Geopolitical Tensions Rise

A hardline Iranian activist has warned of potential infrastructure retaliation if Iran's energy sector is damaged in future strikes. Ali Gholhaki stated that if significant harm comes to Tehran's power grid, it will target critical infrastructure across the region and in Israel.

Iran legalized Bitcoin mining in 2019, and the sector has grown significantly since then. The country's crypto ecosystem is estimated to be worth $7.8 billion, with subsidized electricity making it one of the most cost-competitive mining jurisdictions globally.

A disruption to Iran's power grid could lead to a decrease in Bitcoin's global hash rate, as fewer Iranian miners would be online. This is not just limited to mining, as the country has also relied on stablecoins and peer-to-peer crypto trading to circumvent international sanctions.
