Democratic lawmakers have launched an investigation into the Iranian drone strike that killed six US service members. This move comes as tensions between Iran and the US continue to escalate.

The incident, which occurred on March 1, 2026, was just one of several events in a series of escalating military actions by Iran against the US. On July 16, Iran launched Arash explosive drones at the Al-Sakhir base in Bahrain as part of what Tehran called “Operation Lightning.”

The use of digital currencies by Iran to evade US sanctions has caught the attention of regulators. If Congress expands sanctions to target crypto infrastructure used by Iranian entities, exchanges and wallet providers will need to invest more in screening and monitoring tools.
