Ireland Clears First Public-Chain Fund on XRP Ledger
The Central Bank of Ireland has cleared a tokenized share class of Aviva Investors' USD Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger, marking the first public-chain fund structure approved by an EU financial regulator.
This landmark deal was announced in partnership with Ripple and went live on July 29, 2026. The new tokenized share class is identical to its conventional counterpart, offering eligible investors access under identical terms.
The mechanism behind this integration involves Licuido's tokenization platform issuing the digital share class on XRPL, while Komainu provides regulated digital asset custody and BNY Mellon maintains custody of the underlying fund assets in the traditional structure.
Nigel Khakoo, Senior Vice President of Trading and Markets at Ripple, described the launch as demonstrating that a regulated, institutional-grade tokenized product can be brought to market on live infrastructure with real investor protections in place.
