Ireland Cracks Down on Money Laundering with Casino and Crypto Measures

The Irish government has announced a major overhaul of anti-money laundering (AML) regulations to prevent criminal proceeds from being laundered in the country. The new measures will target casinos and cryptocurrency transfers, with casino clubs required to follow a new framework and stricter enforcement of license conditions applied.

Crypto-currency transfers will soon require a greater level of detail to help trace unusual activity, with legislation underpinning this already 'well advanced'.

Tanaiste and Finance Minister Simon Harris stated that the overhaul sends a clear message that Ireland is not a safe place to launder criminal proceeds.
