Ireland Excludes Crypto from Tax-Favored Investment Accounts
Ireland has published a roadmap for new tax-advantaged retail investment accounts that exclude cryptocurrencies and derivatives, classifying them as 'highly complex and risky products'.
The decision affects how ordinary savers in one of Europe's main crypto hubs will hold digital assets inside government-backed savings vehicles.
The Roadmap for the Taxation of Retail Investment sets out eligible assets for the new personal investment accounts, which include listed stocks, bonds, regulated-market instruments, retail investment funds, and tokenized versions of traditional securities.
