Ireland Greenlights $351B Tokenized Aviva Fund on XRP Ledger
The Central Bank of Ireland has given its approval for Aviva Investors to launch a tokenized share class on the XRP Ledger, marking a significant milestone in the adoption of decentralized finance (DeFi) in Europe.
The new digital shares are tied to an existing money-market-style strategy that holds high-grade, short-term USD debt and offer daily liquidity. The tokenization process is handled by Licuido, with BNY Mellon custodians the underlying assets in the traditional structure, and Komainu providing regulated digital-asset custody.
This move is notable as it provides a concrete precedent for other asset managers in Europe to follow, giving them a working compliance blueprint for launching tokenized funds on public blockchain rails.
