Ireland Introduces Tax-Friendly Investment Account Excluding Crypto
Ireland is introducing a new tax-friendly Investment Account for residents in 2027. The account will allow individuals to invest in listed stocks, bonds, ETFs, and retail investment funds without having to worry about complex paperwork.
The government has excluded crypto assets and derivatives from the account's tax benefits, citing their complexity and riskiness. This means Irish residents won't get preferential tax treatment for buying Bitcoin or other digital assets through the new account.
The Investment Account is designed to make investing simpler for ordinary savers. It will be open to Irish tax residents aged 18 or older who hold a Personal Public Service Number, and each person can open one account through an approved provider.
