Ireland Launches National Investment Account Excluding Crypto Assets

Share

The Irish government is set to launch a new national-supported personal investment account plan, aimed at attracting retail funds into the market. The account will feature favorable conditions such as exemption from deemed disposal tax and no deposit threshold.

However, the plan explicitly designates crypto assets and derivatives as 'high-risk products' and prohibits investment in them. This reflects the traditional sovereign state's caution and isolation towards digital assets.

The new account is expected to officially launch early next year, with the specific amount of tax-free allowance and final tax rate that investors can save to be finalized in the national budget proposal this October.
