IREN Shifts Focus Toward AI as Revenue Surpasses $144 Million
IREN Limited is a Nasdaq-listed data-center company that operates at the intersection of Bitcoin mining, energy infrastructure, and artificial intelligence computing.
The Australian-incorporated business initially focused on developing large data centers in areas with access to renewable-rich power and using that infrastructure mainly for Bitcoin mining. However, it has redirected a growing share of its capital and computing capacity toward AI Cloud services since 2024.
IREN's technical capabilities, including securing grid connections and managing power, have become valuable in the AI infrastructure boom, supporting its transition to AI Cloud services. The company's data centers are powered by 100% renewable energy, with a global secured-power portfolio of approximately 5 GW, and a North American portfolio representing over 4.5 GW of capacity.
For the quarter ended March 31, 2026, IREN reported $144.8 million in total revenue, with Bitcoin mining contributing $111.2 million and AI Cloud Services generating $33.6 million. The company also reported a net loss of $247.8 million, partly reflecting a $140.4 million impairment on mining and data center equipment.
