IREN's $684M Loss Masks AI Infrastructure Ambitions
IREN's latest financials reveal a $684 million net loss in the fourth quarter. However, this figure is more about accounting for a strategic pivot than operational failure.
The company has been transitioning from Bitcoin mining to AI infrastructure provider, and its numbers reflect that shift. For the first time, AI cloud services revenue surpassed Bitcoin mining's, representing 51.4% of total revenue.
What's more important than this loss is IREN's $4 billion in contracted annualized recurring revenue for 2026. This forward visibility has drawn institutional lenders to the company, with Blue Owl Capital and Pimco arranging a $2.4 billion financing package.
