IRGC Claims Widespread Destruction of US Military Assets Amid War Volatility

Share

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims to have destroyed US military aircraft and radar systems across the Middle East over a two-week period in July. According to the IRGC, the targets included a Patriot air-defense system and fuel depots in Kuwait, as well as a missile defense radar and an F-15 fighter jet at a US base in Jordan.

The IRGC's statements, made between July 8 and 22, remain unverified by independent sources or US Central Command. The claims are part of what Tehran has dubbed 'Operation Nasr 2', which aims to create a 'radar blackout' across the Persian Gulf.

Crypto markets have been navigating war volatility, with initial sell-offs followed by better performance than equities over longer timeframes. Prediction markets had previously indicated increased activity regarding potential Iranian strikes in the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway handling roughly a fifth of global oil transit.
