Irish Drug Dealer's Lost Bitcoin Wallet Moves Again
A dormant Bitcoin wallet linked to an Irish drug dealer has started moving again. The wallet, which was believed lost after Clifton Collins misplaced his keys, transferred 500 BTC to Coinbase Prime.
The transfer, worth approximately $39.56 million, is the latest development in a long-running legal saga surrounding Collins' cryptocurrency holdings. In May and July, U.S. judicial authorities recovered 500 BTC each from the wallets, bringing the total seized to 1,000 BTC.
The movement of these funds is notable for several reasons. It demonstrates that law enforcement agencies are increasingly capable of tracing and seizing cryptocurrency assets, even those thought inaccessible. The transfer to Coinbase Prime also indicates that the funds may be liquidated or managed through a regulated channel.
