Irish Drug Dealer's Wallet Transfers 500 BTC to Coinbase Prime
A significant development in an ongoing case involving an Irish drug dealer has shed light on the increasing capabilities of law enforcement agencies to track and seize cryptocurrency assets.
The transfer of 500 BTC, worth approximately $39.56 million, from a dormant wallet linked to Clifton Collins to Coinbase Prime marks another chapter in this long-running saga.
Collins, who was known for storing 6,000 BTC across 12 wallets, had his funds derived from cannabis cultivation and trafficking activities. In May and July, U.S. judicial authorities recovered 500 BTC each from the wallets, and now another 500 BTC has been transferred to Coinbase Prime.
This movement is notable not only for its size but also for the platform it was transferred to, Coinbase Prime is designed for institutional investors and provides advanced trading and custody services.
