ISO Approves Global BaaS Standard Initiative Led by China
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has approved a project to develop a global standard for Blockchain as a Service (BaaS), led by China. The initiative will define technical requirements for infrastructure, network construction and operation, service management, smart contracts, and data interoperability and security.
Germany, the UK, Ireland, Japan, Portugal, and Uganda have confirmed participation in the standard-setting process. BaaS allows enterprises to use blockchain technology without building and maintaining their own infrastructure, similar to cloud services.
The proposed standard aims to create a unified framework for BaaS platforms, addressing key areas that are critical for adoption and cross-platform compatibility. This includes infrastructure and network construction, service management and smart contracts, and data interoperability and security.
