ISO Greenlights Global Blockchain Standard Amid Growing Industry Fragmentation

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has approved a China-led project to develop a global technical standard for Blockchain as a Service (BaaS), marking an important step towards greater consistency in the rapidly expanding blockchain services sector.

The initiative, which involves countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, Portugal, and Uganda, aims to establish technical requirements covering blockchain infrastructure, network development and operations, service management, smart contracts, data interoperability, and cybersecurity.

The proposed standard will create a unified technical framework for BaaS platforms, focusing on improving interoperability, security, operational reliability, and cross-platform compatibility.
