Israeli Strikes in Gaza Leave Ceasefire Deal in Limbo

Israeli airstrikes in Gaza on July 8 killed at least eight people, including two children aged 10 and 6, according to Palestinian health officials. This marks a continuation of military operations that have persisted throughout 2026, despite a US-brokered ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025.

The strikes came after Hamas agreed to terms on a disarmament framework, but Israel has not fully endorsed the framework, leaving the deal in limbo.

A subsequent round of strikes on August 1 killed two more Palestinians in Gaza City and destroyed medicine storage facilities near a hospital, raising concerns about a broader humanitarian crisis.
