Italian Company Patents Blockchain-Based Public Transportation Payment System
An Italian company, AEP Ticketing Solutions, has patented a system for paying public transportation fares using cryptocurrency. The system, which allows users to pay for tickets, passes, tolls, and parking with digital currencies like Bitcoin and Dogecoin, was granted a patent by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Production on July 1.
The technology was developed by Alessandro Sansone, CEO of AEP Ticketing Solutions, and Roberto Del'Eva. The company specializes in electronic ticketing systems for public transportation and has been working on this project for several years.
The system uses blockchain technology to enable secure and transparent transactions between the user's smartphone and the transportation company's system. When a user buys a ticket or pays a toll, the system creates a transaction that transfers the required amount of cryptocurrency from the user's wallet to the transportation company's wallet.
