Italian Parliament Takes Strategic Approach to Bitcoin and Tokenization
The Italian Parliament is taking steps to develop a strategic vision on Bitcoin, tokenization, and digital finance. The Interparliamentary Group on Digital Assets, Blockchain, and Bitcoin has been working on this initiative for months, involving dozens of experts from various sectors. They have formed fourteen working groups to explore different aspects of the topic.
The group's goal is to provide concrete tools for lawmakers to evaluate the potential of blockchain technology. The working groups are tackling topics such as Bitcoin, payment digital infrastructures, stablecoins, and a possible euro digital currency issued by the central bank. Tokenization and its applications in real-world assets (RWA) are also being studied.
This approach marks a shift from simply implementing European rules on cryptocurrencies to creating a more comprehensive strategy for Italy. The Interparliamentary Group's work is not aimed at introducing new legislation but rather at providing analyses, reports, and proposals for the public decision-maker.
