Japan Builds Blockchain Payment Infrastructure for Stocks and Bonds
Japan's financial sector is taking steps to develop blockchain payment infrastructure for stocks and bonds. S.BLOX, a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, has listed Cardano (ADA) for trading on August 24, 2026.
This move comes as regulatory bodies in Japan are shifting towards a financial-instruments framework. Laser Digital secured registration as the country's first new crypto service provider in four years after receiving institutional approval.
Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management increased its position in MSTR by 17.4%, buying an additional 53,430 shares valued at approximately $5.3 million.
MUFG is also testing real-time JGB repo settlement using the Canton Network to reduce delays and improve liquidity. The bank notes that global context for this move includes the need for reduced costs and increased efficiency in financial transactions.
