Japan Clears Path for Bitcoin ETFs with Regulatory Reforms
Japan is taking steps closer to allowing Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) after lawmakers amended the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act. The revision brings crypto assets under this act, prompting the Financial Services Agency (FSA) to revise investment-fund rules.
The FSA will now allow investment trusts and ETFs to directly hold digital assets. This change is expected to boost onshore adoption, institutional access, and the domestic ETF market in Japan.
The country's first Bitcoin ETF could arrive as early as 2028 if these changes proceed. This development is positive for crypto and Bitcoin outlook.
