Japanese Game Developer Gumi Launches ¥3 Billion Crypto Fund with SBI
Japanese game developer Gumi has expanded its cryptocurrency push by launching a ¥3 billion crypto asset fund in partnership with SBI Financial Services. The fund, named SBI Crypto Fund I, will invest mainly in Bitcoin and major listed altcoins, with Daiwa Securities Group and several unnamed investors also committing capital.
The fund will operate as a private placement through a Japanese silent partnership structure and will be managed by SBI Crypto Fund LLC. Gumi's wholly owned subsidiary, gC Labs, owns 49% of the operating company, while SBI Financial Services owns the remaining 51%. The partners had originally considered beginning operations in 2025 but delayed the launch to assess crypto-market conditions.
The fund will combine staking, portfolio rebalancing, and hedging strategies. Gumi did not disclose individual investment amounts or the fund's planned asset allocations, nor did it reveal its custody providers or specific risk limits.
