Japan's Role in Global Fentanyl Trafficking Exposed Through Blockchain Analysis
A blockchain analysis of cryptocurrency transactions has exposed a complex network of Japanese and Chinese entities involved in fentanyl trafficking.
The investigation, which focused on Amarvel's cryptocurrency accounts, revealed links between the operation and sanctioned entities, as well as suspected scam activity.
The study found that four digital wallets connected to the Chinese fentanyl trafficking organisation were used to move funds internationally from Nagoya, Japan, where the company had established its base in September 2022.
One of the identified Tron wallets showed links to suspected financial fraud through transfers involving scam cryptocurrency tokens.
