Japan's Financial Services Agency is pushing for the approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs by 2028, which could attract $18.4 billion in two years according to a report by xWin Finance.

The report notes that this would represent only about 0.13% of Japan's household financial assets, totaling around $14.6 trillion.

This demand is expected to come from existing crypto investors, new retail investors via securities accounts, and institutional players such as corporations and financial firms.

In comparison, U.S spot BTC ETFs hit a cumulative flow of about $56 billion two years after their debut in early 2024, suggesting that Japan's product could account for a third of this demand.
