JPMorgan Sounds Alarm on Hyperliquid's Competitive Position
JPMorgan has issued a warning about the competitive position of Hyperliquid, a decentralized exchange for perpetual futures and crypto derivatives. According to the bank's report, investor appetite for Hyperliquid exchange-traded funds stalled after a strong spring.
Hyperliquid ETFs led non-Bitcoin crypto funds in inflows relative to their size in May and June, but this momentum faded in July and early August. The bank's analysts see significant challenges to the market share of decentralized platforms like Hyperliquid, citing competition from newly regulated U.S. crypto perpetual futures products.
JPMorgan noted that these new products could pull trading away from offshore, decentralized venues like Hyperliquid, which carry questions around licensing, compliance, and investor protection. The bank also pointed to rising competition in prediction markets, an area Hyperliquid is expanding into.
