JPMorgan's Tokenization Push Accelerates Industry Shift
The tokenization of financial assets is accelerating rapidly, according to Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock. Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh back in October 2025, Fink emphasized that the industry should be focusing on the quick adoption of tokenization, rather than AI.
Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, highlighted Fink's comments as a turning point for the industry, giving permission to others to follow suit. JPMorgan Chase, led by Jamie Dimon, has taken significant steps in this direction, launching the My OnChain Net Yield (MONY) Fund in December 2025.
The fund is a money market fund that predominantly holds U.S. Treasuries and is managed by JPMorgan. What's more interesting is that JPMorgan has been developing blockchain technology for over a decade, including the permissioned version of Ethereum called Quorum, which was later rebranded to Kinexys.
However, with the launch of MONY, JPMorgan is moving to a public blockchain solution. This trend is becoming clearer by the day, as more institutions are opting for public blockchains over permissioned ones. A consortium of major European banks is planning to issue a Euro-denominated stablecoin on Ethereum in late 2026.
