JPYC Secures $38M in Extended Series B Funding Round
JPYC, Japan's first registered stablecoin issuer, has secured $38 million in an extended Series B funding round. The company raised a cumulative 6 billion yen through this latest extension of its Series B financing.
The new capital will support the expansion of JPYC's financial infrastructure and Web3 ecosystem, as well as broader adoption of its yen-backed stablecoin. Tokyo-listed logistics company AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings invested 1 billion yen in the funding round, which also included a previous investment from Metaplanet Ventures.
JPYC is expanding its payment network, with logistics provider AZ-COM Maruwa planning to use JPYC for transportation fees and salaries to about 2,300 logistics partners and independent contractors. The company views stablecoin payments as a way to strengthen relationships with business partners while responding to labor shortages linked to Japan's aging workforce and stricter overtime regulations.
Retail adoption is also expanding, with Lawson launching a pilot program that allows customers to test stablecoin payments using existing point-of-sale systems instead of separate payment terminals. The company is evaluating settlement speed, wallet integration, transaction processing, and store operations before considering broader deployment.
