JPYC Secures ¥6 Billion in Funding to Scale Japan's Yen Stablecoin Infrastructure
JPYC, the issuer of Japan's yen-backed stablecoin, has secured ¥6 billion in funding to accelerate its deployment across the country's commercial landscape. This Series B extension brings significant corporate investment as the digital currency issuer transitions from crypto-focused applications to mainstream payment use cases.
The capital injection will facilitate broader integration of compliant yen stablecoins across retail environments, supply chain operations, and blockchain-based financial services. The funding will also accelerate the commercial rollout of its government-regulated digital yen.
Logistics leader AZ-COM Maruwa has committed ¥1 billion as a strategic partner in this latest funding phase. The company aims to integrate JPYC into its payment workflows for shipping costs, independent contractor compensation, and employee wages.
Retail integration pilot programs are underway with convenience store chain Lawson testing stablecoin transactions through its standard cash register infrastructure. Select Chibo restaurant branches have similarly deployed the stablecoin as a customer payment option.
