JPYC Secures ¥6 Billion to Accelerate Adoption of Japan’s First Regulated Yen Stablecoin
JPYC Inc., the issuer of Japan's first regulated yen-denominated stablecoin, has secured ¥6 billion in Series B funding. This investment will be used to expand products and services across traditional finance and Web3, accelerating broader adoption of the Ethereum-based stablecoin.
The new backers include AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings, Amazon's delivery partner in Japan. The logistics firm plans to integrate the stablecoin into its operations, including payment of drivers' salaries, aiming for efficient value transfers across a wide network of partners.
Early real-world tests are underway, with point-of-sale pilots already conducted at major retailers like Lawson. These tests signal growing institutional interest in the Japanese yen stablecoin, aligning with Japan's push toward on-chain finance and reduced settlement friction.
