A federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration's attempts to punish Anthropic for refusing to let its AI model be used in military applications were unconstitutional.

The dispute began when the Pentagon asked Anthropic to remove restrictions on its Claude LLM, but the company refused to comply with a clause permitting 'all lawful uses.'

Trump subsequently ordered federal agencies to stop using Anthropic's technology, calling it a 'RADICAL LEFT, WOKE COMPANY' on Truth Social.

Judge Rita Lin found that the government's actions were retaliatory and in violation of the First Amendment, due process, and the Administrative Procedure Act.

The judge also rejected Anthropic's claim that Trump's directive exceeded presidential authority, but granted a permanent injunction against the designation and boycott order.
