Jury Duty Scammers Prey on Montgomery County Residents Using Bitcoin
Montgomery County residents have fallen victim to a sophisticated jury duty phone scam that has resulted in losses ranging from $1,380 to $23,600.
The scam involves victims being told they must pay a fine for failing to report for jury duty using Bitcoin deposits. Nearly a dozen residents have been affected by this scam, with officials warning them to be on alert.
Montgomery County D.A. Kevin Steele alerted residents about the scam, and authorities are urging people to verify the authenticity of any calls or messages related to jury duty before taking action.
