K33 Sees Sharp Decline in Trading Volumes Amid MiCA License Securing
K33's second quarter of 2026 saw a sharp slowdown in cryptocurrency trading volumes, despite securing an unconditional MiCA license from the Norwegian Financial Supervisory Authority. The company's H1 2024 revenue growth reached 10% year over year, but Q2 volumes fell about 30% from the prior quarter as Bitcoin prices slipped to $58,000.
CEO Torbjørn Bull Jenssen described K33 as a platform for businesses and investors, not just a cryptocurrency exchange. The company offers professional execution with no fees, institutional-grade liquidity, custody services, lending products, research, and human support. These services are designed to serve larger private clients, corporate clients, and institutional partners.
The MiCA license is a major competitive advantage for K33, as it allows the company to operate in the European market. Management said that the focus is now shifting from licensing to commercialization and growth. The company plans to scale in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Germany through MiCA passporting and further develop its product offerings.
