Kalshi Aims to Bring Crypto-Style Perpetual Futures to Stocks and Copper
Kalshi is pushing to bring crypto-style perpetual futures contracts to traditional markets. The exchange has submitted proposals to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for approval of perpetual futures contracts based on a major US stock index and copper.
The proposed contracts would be similar to those found in cryptocurrency trading, where traders can maintain leveraged trades without rolling them at expiration and receive regular funding payments that keep prices aligned with the underlying market.
Kalshi's efforts come after its approval by the CFTC for a Bitcoin perpetual contract in May. The company now offers perpetuals across 13 cryptocurrencies, but is looking to expand into traditional assets.
