Kalshi Files for Gold and Silver Perpetual Futures Contracts
Kalshi, a prediction market, has filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to launch two new perpetual futures contracts: GOLDPERP and SILVERPERP. The contracts will settle in cash and have no expiration date. Kalshi plans to list these contracts on September 9.
The gold perpetual contract tracks the spot price of one troy ounce, while the silver perpetual contract follows the spot price of silver in U.S. dollars. Both contracts offer continuous trading without daily or weekend closures, allowing traders to hold a single position instead of rolling between dated contracts. Kalshi has set the reference price for both contracts through Pyth Network.
Kalshi's move into metals follows its earlier success with crypto perpetual futures, which it launched in May this year. The company expanded its offerings to include 18 crypto assets and plans to add more products, including copper and equity-index contracts. However, the CME Group has sued the CFTC over how it classifies Kalshi's Bitcoin perpetual contract.
