Kalshi Files to Launch Gold and Silver Perpetual Futures Contracts with CFTC
Kalshi, a prediction market and derivatives exchange, has filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to list perpetual futures contracts tied to gold and silver. The filings were submitted on September 9 under CFTC Regulation 40.2(a), allowing registered exchanges to certify new products without a formal commission vote.
The two new contracts, GOLDPERP and SILVERPERP, track the spot prices of one troy ounce of gold and silver in U.S. dollars, respectively. They are cash-settled, meaning traders never receive physical metal. Instead of expiring on a fixed date, these contracts stay open indefinitely, with funding payments used to keep the contract price close to the spot price.
Kalshi uses Pyth Network as its price source for both products. The platform has seen significant growth in crypto perpetuals, adding 17 more assets since receiving CFTC approval for its Bitcoin perpetual in May. This includes popular cryptocurrencies like Ether and XRP.
