Kalshi Seeks Approval for Single-Stock Perpetual Futures in US Market
Kalshi, a prediction market platform, is seeking approval from US regulators to launch single-stock perpetual futures in the United States. The company aims to start with mega-cap stocks like Tesla, Apple, and Nvidia before expanding to approximately 60 individual names and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
The move represents an attempt to bring the 'no-expiry futures' model into the US regulatory framework, which has been met with pushback from incumbent derivatives exchanges and major Wall Street institutions.
Kalshi's CEO, Tarek Mansour, plans to file a joint application with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for 'security futures products'.
