Kalshi Seeks CFTC Approval for Copper Perpetual Futures Contract
Kalshi, a prediction markets platform, is expanding its reach into traditional derivatives by seeking approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for a copper perpetual futures contract. The proposed COPPERPERP contract would track the spot price of copper in U.S. dollars per pound using a price feed from Pyth Network.
The contract would be cash-settled and have no fixed expiration or delivery date, relying on a periodic funding mechanism to keep the contract price tied to the underlying reference price. Kalshi intends to list the contract on a continuous basis shortly after CFTC approval.
