Kalshi Seeks CFTC Approval for Gold and Silver Perpetual Futures Trading
Kalshi, a derivatives platform, has submitted applications to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for approval to offer perpetual futures contracts based on gold and silver prices. The proposed contracts are called GOLDPERP and SILVERPERP and feature cash settlement, no expiration dates, and continuous 24/7 trading access.
The price feeds come from Pyth Network, and the contracts involve zero physical delivery of metals. Kalshi currently operates perpetual futures on 18 digital assets with more than $8.5 billion in total volume.
The platform's aggressive product expansion has raised questions about its regulatory classification. CME Group initiated legal action against the CFTC regarding the regulatory classification of Kalshi's Bitcoin perpetual contract.
