Kalshi Surpasses Crypto Growth with Commodity Trading Boom
Kalshi, a prediction market startup, has seen an unprecedented surge in trading volumes on its platform. According to recent figures, the company's monthly commodity trade volume has reached over $400 million, four times that of cryptocurrency at the same point seven months after launch.
This remarkable growth can be attributed to the boom in retail trading, which prompted Kalshi to introduce commodity prediction markets for products such as oil, gas, and metals. The strong performance of these contracts has not only helped the company but also enabled it to explore newer asset classes, further boosting trading volumes.
Kalshi co-founder Tarek Mansour attributed this success to improved liquidity on the platform, which allows users to easily enter and exit positions. With a diverse and large participation pool, the company is now able to launch new categories at an accelerated pace.
The company's rapid expansion into perpetual futures contracts across asset classes is another significant development. Kalshi has filed for equity indexes, metals, and WTI crude oil, following the introduction of similar investment vehicles for cryptocurrency earlier this year.
