Kalshi Surpasses Early Crypto Growth with $400M+ Commodity Trading Volume
Kalshi's prediction market platform has seen its commodity trading volume reach over $400 million per month, surpassing early cryptocurrency growth by a significant margin. This milestone comes just seven months after launch, with the company attributing it to improved liquidity on the platform.
The strong performance in commodities trading has been driven by a boom in retail trading, pushing Kalshi to adopt commodity prediction markets in products such as oil, gas, and metals. According to Kalshi co-founder Tarek Mansour, 'liquidity is very hard to get off the ground because of how many people you need participating actively'.
The company's rapid growth has also led it to explore newer asset classes, including perpetual future contracts across various asset classes. This move comes after regulators green-lighted investment vehicles for cryptocurrency earlier this year.
