Kalshi Unveils Gold and Silver Perpetuals in CFTC-Approved Move
Kalshi has expanded its trading offerings beyond crypto assets and prediction markets by launching perpetual contracts for gold and silver. The move comes after the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) approved Kalshi's precious metals listings, making them the first of their kind in the US.
The company confirmed to CNBC that it received CFTC approval this week, following a July filing with the regulator. Udesh Jha, chief risk officer at Kalshi Klear, said strong interest in commodities prompted the expansion into metals trading.
Kalshi's perpetual contracts allow traders to gain exposure to gold and silver without owning them directly. This is achieved through futures-style contracts without expiration dates. According to the company, its perpetuals give investors a simpler way to gain leveraged exposure to these assets while avoiding rollover costs and management fees associated with exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
