Kalshi's Betting Markets Predict Bearish Outlook for Bitcoin in 2026
Bitcoin's price has been stuck in a bear market for much of 2026, testing the patience of even its most committed holders. As of mid-August, the token was trading in the low $63,000s, down nearly 27% since the start of the year and almost 49% off its all-time high of $126,080 set in October 2025.
The market's collective wager on Bitcoin's price at the end of 2026, as tracked by Kalshi's long-horizon 'price at end of 2026' market, suggests a bearish outlook. The most probable range is between $60,000 and $70,000, with adjacent bands priced at roughly a flat 10% implied probability apiece.
Even the prospect of Bitcoin reclaiming its six-figure status this year is seen as a long shot, with contracts pricing that outcome at around an 80% implied probability of not happening. Real downside risk is also factored in, with contracts on Bitcoin falling below $50,000 before year-end carrying a majority probability.
The skepticism lines up with the broader macro backdrop, which includes a cautious Federal Reserve and thinner institutional buying. Analysts remain divided on whether the current calm reflects a market building a bottom or simply a pause before another leg down.
